Scotty Gomez Foundation helps kids through hockey!

Scotty Gomez, an internationally acclaimed hockey star, grew up in the Airport Heights neighborhood of Anchorage, right next to Mountain View. Now he’s found a way to give back to his old neighborhood – through the sport he loves. Last year, with a $70,000 donation from his foundation and other cash and in-kind support, the hockey rink in Tikishla Park, where Gomez learned to skate, was brought back to life.

Donation to the Boys and Girl Club

We have now given out 68 sets of hockey gear including sticks to the Boys and Girls club kids that have signed up for the program.  We're guessing that when we're done we will have donated well over 100 sets of hockey gear to kids ages 4 - 12.

Thanks again to our sponsors for making this possible!

Our Story

Eight years ago, my son, Scotty Gomez, was offered his first contract to play NHL hockey.  I never knew when he was young, that he would turn his favorite pastime into a career.  But I do know, all too well, how expensive the sport can be - kids grow fast and they can go through a lot of equipment.  Costs for this sport can spiral out of control quickly.  Because of the high expense of hockey, some kids don’t ever get the opportunity to skate, and we’d like to change that.

It is Scotty’s desire, and his family’s, to lend significant financial support to the youth hockey community in Alaska. We’ve created the Scotty Gomez Foundation to raise funds which will be returned to young players in Alaska who need a “scholarship” to be able to afford to keep playing.  Who knows where Alaska’s next hockey star will come from?  We’re committed to helping make sure that every young player at least gets a chance to pursue the dream that my son is living right now.

Thank you, sincerely, for your support.

Carlos E. Gomez
